Birth and Early Life
Michael Shawn Hickenbottom was born on July 22, 1965, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Known as Shawn Michaels in the wrestling world, he spent his early years in San Antonio, Texas.
Training and Debut
Michaels began his wrestling career training under the legendary Jose Lothario. He made his professional debut in 1984 and quickly rose through the ranks of various independent promotions.
WWF/WWE Success
In 1988, Michaels signed with the WWF (now WWE). As part of The Rockers tag team with Marty Jannetty, he achieved early success before the duo's infamous split in 1992.
Michaels went on to become a four-time WWF World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWF Intercontinental Champion. His signature moves, such as Sweet Chin Music and the Moonsault, made him one of the most popular and recognizable wrestlers of all time.
Retirement and Legacy
Michaels retired from wrestling in 1998 due to a severe back injury. He returned for several brief stints in the early 2000s before officially retiring again in 2010.
