Multiple Fires Burning in Butte County
Evacuations Ordered as Apache Fire Grows to Over 465 Acres
One Fatality Reported in Highway 32 Structure Fire
Multiple fires are currently burning in Butte County, California, including the Apache Fire, which has grown to over 465 acres and prompted evacuation orders. The Apache Fire was first reported at 7:21 pm Monday and spread rapidly, fueled by strong winds.
Cal Fire has confirmed that one person died in a structure fire along Highway 32 in Chico on Saturday morning. The fire is not related to the Apache Fire. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) is responding to the incident.
Residents in the areas affected by the Apache Fire have been ordered to evacuate. The Chico Fire Department has established an evacuation center at the Chico Municipal Center. The fire is being actively fought by firefighters from Cal Fire, the Chico Fire Department, and other agencies.
The cause of the Apache Fire is still under investigation. However, high winds and dry conditions are contributing to the fire's rapid spread. Smoke from the fires is impacting air quality in the area, and residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid strenuous activity.
