New York Mets Jeff Mcneil Leaves Game Against Cincinnati Reds Due To Injury

New York Mets' Jeff McNeil leaves game against Cincinnati Reds due to injury

Mets' Jeff McNeil Exits Game With Left Hamstring Tightness

New York Mets infielder Jeff McNeil exited Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds in the third inning due to left hamstring tightness. McNeil came up limping after hitting a ground ball to third base and was replaced by Luis Guillorme.

McNeil is hitting .350 with five home runs and 23 RBIs this season. He is one of the Mets' most productive hitters and his absence would be a significant blow to the team.

The Mets are already without shortstop Francisco Lindor, who is on the injured list with a sprained MCL in his right knee. If McNeil is unable to play, the Mets will be without two of their best players.

McNeil's Injury History

McNeil has had a history of hamstring injuries in the past. He missed time in 2021 with a left hamstring strain and in 2019 with a right hamstring strain.

The Mets will likely be cautious with McNeil's latest injury, given his history. He could be placed on the injured list if the injury is deemed to be serious.

Mets' Outlook Without McNeil

If McNeil is unable to play, the Mets will have to rely on other players to step up. Guillorme is a capable replacement at second base, but he is not as good of a hitter as McNeil.

The Mets could also move Eduardo Escobar to second base and play Mark Canha at third base. However, Escobar is a better hitter than Canha, so that move would weaken the Mets' offense.

The Mets are hoping that McNeil's injury is not serious and that he will be able to return to the lineup soon. However, if he is unable to play, the Mets will have to find a way to replace his production.
